Here are the best spots to watch the fireworks this year. We are lucky that every year  a few local residents hire private barges to come out and provide the entertainment for their fourth of July parties.

We usually have from 2 – 5 barges that dot the coastline from Carbon Beach to the Encinal Bluffs. Theses barges are loaded with thousand of pounds of fireworks and the displays, lasting up to 45 minutes, are on par with anything you’d see in a major city. So far permits have been issued for these three fireworks displays on Friday, July 4, beginning at 9:00 PM in the vicinity of:

* Malibu Colony Road

* 27900 block of PCH

* Broach Beach

For the Malibu Colony firework show a great spot to watch the show would be on Surfrider Beach and the Malibu pier. If you want to eat dinner while watching the show, a good bet would be to grab a reservation soon. Some of the choices are: The Malibu Farm, Nobu and Nikita  but reservations will be tight!!! so hurry it that is what you want.

The 27900 block of PCH is by Paradise Cove. Parking is a real issue in this area so it’s best to get to the beach early and plan on staying all day or park up one of the canyons and walk down to the beach. There is parking at Paradise Cove Beach Cafe but I’m guessing it will fill up by 10am….even if it’s foggy.

Up at Broad Beach the parking and viewing can be a bit more challenging. With the beach pretty much gone at Broad Beach, the only place to safely watch the fireworks show will be from the west end of Zuma. Just a short walk away you can get food and drinks at the new Vintage Market.
